Guess whose one???? or rather their Hearing age 1!

LILLIAN!!!  This is a photo of Lillian on year ago today!  It was the day she got her hearing aids!  She heard her baby brother for the first time and also heard our voices.  Each time we have gone to have them adjusted she can hear more clearly.  I love Technology!   This summer her understanding of language and use of it has exploded!  She is doing so well.  She is back in her amazing school, which we are so grateful for.

Here we are on July 4th!  Funny thing about our family is that Jackson's hearing age is older than Lillians :-) Hearing age is defined as the date when the child had access to speech.  For example Lillian could hear airplanes, fireworks mostly.  She could hear some sounds coming from us, depending on how close and quite it was around her.  This all change as of September 7th 2012 when she recieved her hearing aids.  Now she can hear most spoken language.  At our summer camp at the John Tracy Clinic they adjusted Lillian's hearing aids so she can hear me better from 5-8 feet away.  I still have to be facing her and speak clearly, but its helped her frustration level.  She used to get so frustrated right as we were leaving the door to go somewhere, because I had to gather everything up and was running around trying to get everything so she was not hearing me well and mostly not understanding what was going on.  Now I make the time to prepare the night before and also to explain to Lillian clearly what is going to happen.  I feel we both are understanding eachother so much more now.

Lillian is using so many words and has started to put three words together in sentences.  We are so excited and proud of her.  She is really smart, has very talkative and patient friends and family, and a great support system at her school.

Elliott is really enjoying being back at school.  First grade is different but he is doing really well.  He is currently playing soccer and finds himself more comfortable on defense.  (thats my boy!)  Mr. Jackson always entertains us.  He loves balls, dancing, and eating.  He is our biggest eater by far.  Jackson is speaking up a storm.
